Proper counseling can aid clients to influence them to use contraception longer and increase the success of family planning, particularly through the use of Balanced Counselling. There are several options for family planning counseling methods, one of which is the Balanced Counseling Strategy (BCS); a family planning counseling that is practical, interactive, friendly to clients, and encourages active client participation. In 2021, in the Mergangsan Health Center area, there were a 10% increase in cases of unwanted pregnancies and a 14.5% decrease in PP family planning coverage. This research aim to find out the relationship between the Balanced Counseling Strategy and the interest in the use of postpartum contraception among pregnant women, at the Mergangsan Community Health Center, Yogyakarta. This study utilized a cross sectional design. The research subjects were all third trimester pregnant women, who had antenatal visits at Mergangsan Public Health Center, Yogyakarta City, Indonesia. The samples of this study amounted to 60 respondents. Thedata was obtained using a questionnaire, and analysed through the use of chi square. The results of this study indicated that 16.7% of respondents who did not receive the Balanced Counseling Strategy were not interested in using postnatal family planning. Meanwhile, 100 percent of the respondents who received Balanced Counseling Strategy wereI interested in using postnatal family planning (p-value = 0.020). Additionally, respondents who received Balanced Counseling Strategy had 1.2 times likelihood of interest in adopting postnatal family planning (95%, CI: 1.013-1.154). It is conclude that there is a relationship between the Balanced Counseling Strategy and the interest in the use of postpartum contraception.
