The increase in the number of motorized vehicles causes an increase in the noise level on the highway. The impact of this noise causes inconvenience to both road users and the surrounding community. Roads with high volumes of heavy and light vehicles are more at risk of producing noise. The main problem with noise is that the effects are not immediate, but gradual. Just as hearing sensitivity will decrease and worsen over time with exposure. Architectural noise control in buildings on highways is very important, as it is directly related to the noise conditions of the space. The effect of noise on humans physically not only disturbs the hearing organ but can also cause disturbances to other organs such as constriction of blood vessels and the heart system. The psychological effect of noise is a decrease in work effectiveness and performance.
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between traffic density and noise along Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto in 2023. The type of research used was descriptive observational survey. The location of this research was along the malioboro road, with samples taken at 3 locations, namely point I (beside SMA Negeri 1 Teladan Yogyakarta), point II (Pakuncen Market Entrance) and point III (beside the Railroad). This research was conducted for 5 days, namely Wednesday
– Sunday, September 20 – 24, 2023.
The result of this research is traffic density with noise intensity, there is no relationship with the noise level on Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto Yogyakarta, with an average number of vehicles of 283.8 vehicles and an average noise level of 93.4 dB. The conclusion of this study is that the measurements taken, most have exceeded the quality standard of a total of 3 points / day for public facility areas of 60 dB.
