RELATIONSHIP KANGAROO MOTHER CARE (KMC) WITH LENGTH OF STAY INFANT LOW BIRTH WEIGHT (LBW) IN THE PERINATOLOGY WARD WATES HOSPITAL KULON PROGO
Nanang1, Yustiana Olfah2, Ana Ratnawati3 ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is one of the indicators used to assess the health of society. Of all prenatal deaths around 2-27% were LBW infants. Handling LBW infants is to maintain the body temperature to remain stable, one using the Kangaroo Mother Care is where one of the benefits is to shorten the length of stay LBW Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) with Length of Stay Infant Low Birth Weight (LBW) in the Perinatology Ward Wates Kulon Progo Hospital. Methods: This research is an observational analytic study that researchers simply observe without intervening variables with retrospective approach is research that seeks to look back (backward looking), sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a total sample of 124 documents LBW infants. Results: LBW Patients who received Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) treatment on a regular relatively possess short length of stay, from 124 data LBW patient found as many as 33 patients with length of stay less of 5 days, 13 patients with low birth weight and length of stay over 5 days. Conclusion: Chi Square test result obtained with 0,05 significance. The result got 0.000 (0,000 < 0,05), then by this result viewed that there is relation between Kangaroo Mother Care with length of stay LBW patient.
