One of the problems arising from activities in the Alun-Alun Kidul tourist area of Yogyakarta City is the generation of waste. The manager has provided garbage cans, but the condition of the garbage cans is not covered, waterproof, and has not been sorted. There is garbage scattered because it is not disposed of in its place. The purpose of this study is to find out about waste management in the tourist area of Alun-Alun Kidul in Yogyakarta City in 2024. The method used in this study is a survey with descriptive data analysis. Data collection was carried out primarily through measurements, interviews, and observations, as well as secondary data in the form of an overview of the research location. The population in this study is all visitors and garbage transportation officers of Alun Alun Kidul Yogyakarta City. The sample of this study was 30 visitors and 5 waste transportation officers with incidental sampling techniques. Based on the study’s results, it can be seen that the waste management system in the tourist area of Alun-Alun Kidul in Yogyakarta City consists of containers, transportation and final disposal. The waste generated is 636.46 kg with an average of 159.12 kg/day. The composition of waste consisted of food waste and leaf waste at 54.06%, paper-cardboard waste at 1.95%, wood waste at 0.29%, fabric-textile waste at 0.07%, plastic waste at 40.35%, metal waste at 0.29%, glass waste of 1.22%, and miscellaneous waste of 1.77%. Personal protective equipment used by waste transport officers at work is 100% boots and work clothes, while PPE that is not used while on duty is 100% gloves, 80% masks, and 20% head protection. The role of Paparazi in waste management is to provide waste storage facilities, manage levies and cooperate for waste transportation. Visitor behavior includes knowledge about waste with medium category of 3.33%, good 3.33%, and very good 93.33%, habits in managing waste with medium category of 30%, good 53.33%, and very good 16.67%, visitor perception in managing waste with medium category of 76.67% and good 23.33%, attitude of visitors in managing waste with medium category of 23.33%, good 50%, and very good 26.67%.
