Stunting was a chronic condition of poor linier growth in a child that was an
accumulation of the impact of various factors such as poor nutrition and health
before and after the child’s birth. The highest stunting case occurred in
Community’s health center Kotagede I as a public health center in Kotagede
Yogyakarta. Base on that, this research will examine the related factors in children
aged 25-59 months in Kotagede I Health Center of Yogyakarta control research
design. This research use simple random sampling to collect data from 78
respondents from each neighborhood’s health service team as community’s health
service. The data were analyzed using Chi-square test and logistic regression. The
result showed stunting in children under five risk factors are a history of mother
education level p-value 0.033 OR = 2,293 (95% CI 1,121-4,694), history of breast
feeding p-value 0,010 OR = 2,429 (95% CI 1,276-4,624), history of mother’s
height p-value 0,002 OR = 2,130 (95% CI 1,794-2,530), and birth weight p-value
0,001 OR = 4,242 (95% CI 1,696-10,605). The dominant risk factor of stunting
was birth weight (OR = 4,270, 95% CI 1.676-10.878). With that result, pregnant
mother, health worker, and government should pay more attention to pregnancy
preparation stage, fulfillment of nutrition during pregnancy, and exclusive breast
feeding after pregnancy.
