Everyone has the right to a healthy environment for achieving health status,
including those who are serving their time in Correctional Institution or penitentiary.
This study aims to produce an overview of environmental sanitation conditions at the
Sleman Class II B Penitentiary, Special Region of Yogyakarta.This research is an
observational descriptive survey research, with data collection methods referring to the
type of Cross Sectional then the results are verified using triangulation techniques and
analyzed descriptively. The object in this study is the condition of environmental
sanitation.. The fundamentals references used in this study is; Pedoman Penanganan
Kesehatan Lingkungan di Lapas dan Rutan KEMENKUMHAM Dirjen Pemasyarakatan
Direktorat Bina Perawatan 2009, Surat Edaran Dirjen Pemasyarakatan
KEMENKUMHAM Nomor PAS-373.PK.01.07.01 Tahun 2016 tentang Sanitasi dan
Kesehatan Lingkungan LAPAS, LPKA, Rutan dan Cabang Rutan and Kepmen
Kehakiman dan HAM RI No : M.01.PL.01.01 Tahun 2003 tentang Pola Bangunan Unit
Pelaksana teknis Pemasyarakatan.
The results of the analysis of observational research on environmental
sanitation at Sleman Class II B Penitentiary, fulfilled the requirements by getting a total
score of 67, with details of each variable, namely; variables of cleanliness and health of
occupants (Score 11), water supply (Score 15), sanitation (Score 11), space and cell
(Score 10), kitchen and provision of food (Score 10) and location and building (Score
10). Those six variables are still in a condition that meets the specified conditions. In
conclusion, environmental sanitation at Sleman Class II B Penitentiary is quite good.
However, there are some things that still need to be improved and enhanced. Especially
in the space and cell variables, the kitchen and the provision of food and location and
buildings. Therefore to create a better environmental sanitation conditions in
penitentiary, it is necesarry need to be massively improved and continuous supervision
is supported by policy making on environmental health supervision in prisons /
detention based on applicable standards, and all residents are expected to equally
support the creation clean, healthy environment and avoid the risk of disease. This
research can be continued and followed up from the description of the state of
environmental sanitation that has been described.
