A quality of water that is not fulfilled the standarized criteria can lead to many health problems and disorders. Water with high hardness can resulting in the emergence of crust on water heater kettle, on piping, it decrease the effectiveness of soap work and become one of the risk factors of kidney failure. One of the methods of reducing the hardness of water is filtration. Filtration media is used to enhance the reduction of contaminants such as bacteria, color, smell, and taste. Filtration media used in this study is the cation resin.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of filtration media using resin cation to the reduction of the water hardness of well “X” in Wonomerto Ngerangan Bayat Klaten. The type of this research is Quasi Experiment with Randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The study was conducted in April 2018 in Wonomerto RT 04/ RW 10 Ngerangan Bayat Klaten.
The mean value of the reduction of water hardness after treatment filtration media using resin cation of well “X” in Wonomerto Ngerangan Bayat Klaten with 27 minutes of contact is 89.33%. The conclusion of this research is influence of filtration media using resin cation on the decreasing of water hardness of well “X” in Wonomerto Ngerangan Bayat Klaten.
