Open defecation free (ODF) is one of the most important targets in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at breaking the chain of transmission of infectious diseases. Open defecation behavior in the Soropaten community has been long and come down. Riskesdas data in 2018 shows that latrine ownership rates in Soropaten Hamlet are only 58,8 % This study was to know the description of factor towards open defecation free in Soropaten Hamlet, Karanganom Subdistrict, Klaten. This was a descriptive survey using an instrument in the questionnaire involving on 30 respondents. The sample total are purposive sampling was carried out in March-May 2019. The conclusions of this study are the factors that cause the community to behave open defecation including low level of knowledge and income, distance of houses to rivers <100 m with the position houses not facing the river, the role of officers who are less active in socializing the ODF program and poor habits. This Open defecation behavior hampered the Klaten Declaration program as ODF Regency in 2019 so that by mid 2019 the program had not yet materialized.
