Background: Mosquito is an insecta from ordo Diptera which has many roles as disease vector such as Dengue fever, Malaria, Filariasis, and Yellow fever. The increase of Dengue fever cases in Indonesia cause need various efforts to lessen disease spreading through mosquito vector, by compressing mosquito population is one of the way. Effective way that can be done is restraint. It uses larva of Toxorhynchites mosquito as biological restraint agent. Biological restraint which use larva of Toxorhynchites is not always success because population of Toxorhynchites is not proportional with Aedes sp population which increase annually. It needs effort to develop larva of Toxorhynchites as restraint agent for Aedes sp larva. Aim: This study is aimed to know differences of duration of development stage of Toxorhynchites larva in coconut shell, cut of bamboo and hole in timber media. Method: This research was a Pre-experiment with Post Test Only Design. The research was done in January 2020. It was done by observing every stages of Toxorhynchites larva development in coconut shell, cut of bamboo, and hole in timber media. Data analysis was done by using One Way Anova statistic test with α = 0,05. Finding: Result of One Way Anova test was got Sig. point 0,035 by that result, < 0,05 means H0 is rejected and Hα is accepted. It shows that there are differences of various media using towards duration of developing stage of Toxorhynchites larva. It has average duration 6,4 days for coconut shell medium, 6,9 days for cut of bamboo and 6,5 for hole in timber. Conclusion: There are differences of various media using toward duration of development stage of Toxorhynchites larva. The shortest duration for the development stage of Toxorhynchites larva is coconut shell medium. Keywords: Toxorhynchites, type of medium, duration.
