Background: The less varied way of selecting the extension media is a problem that needs to be intervened. It needs an interesting and innovative media such as the use of power point and poster slides. Elementary students are easy targets of motivation and knowledge enhancement. Objective: To know the effectiveness of nutritional counseling using slide power point and poster to the knowledge about breakfast in school age children. Research Methods: This research is a Quasi Experimental research (Quasi Exsperiment) with pre test with control group design. The study was conducted on March to April 2018. The research location was SDN Tegalyoso (instructor using slide power point) and Kanoman Elementary School (Posy Elementary School), V students were selected for 52 students. The dependent variable is the student’s knowledge of breakfast. Shapiro Wilk statistical test data, Paired Sampels T-test, Independent Sampels T-Test. Result: Normality test result of normal distributed data, pre test test result is not significant (p = 0,363) shows the initial knowledge of both groups is same. There was a significant difference in knowledge increase in both groups from post test results (p = 0.000). There is a significant difference of knowledge before and after counseling on the power point slide group (p = 0.02). Conclusions : study Slide Power Point is more effective in improving knowledge about breakfast in school-aged children compared with posters. Keywords: Media, knowledge, Slide Power Point, poster
