ABSTRACT
Water is basic needs for organism. According to Permenkes RI No. 416/ Menkes/Per/IX/1990 one of the requirements quality water of chemistry parameters is hardness amount 500 mg/l. Based on preliminary tests that have been done, the water samples from the springs in Jimbung village, Kalikotes, Klaten contained a hardness of 320,4 mg/l. Hardness water levels above 300 mg/l can cause a disturbance if consumed in are constantly being, and will be harm the health such as to spoil human kidney. The purpose of this research is to decrease the levels hardness of Jimbung’s springs by using the media of filtration resin cation and zeolites (relit), so that be treated water will be safety to use.
This research type is Experiment with One Group Pretest Posttest. Research conducted by using variation discharge of water flow 100 ml/minutes, 150 ml/minutes and 200 ml/minutes. The data of results research is processed by descriptive and analytical analysis.
The results of this research are decrease of hardness with variation discharge of water flow 100 ml/minutes can reduce amount 84,43%, discharge of water flow 150 ml/minutes amount 81,52%, while discharge of water flow 200 ml/minutes amount 80,53%. Based on One Way Anova test known p-value hardness amount where p>0,05 so there are no significant differences between each of the three discharge variations. Based on these results can be concluded that media of filtration resin cation and zeolites that can be lowered levels hardness of most significant namely with discharge of water flow 100 ml/minutes.
