ABSTRACT Background: The orthodontic treatment aims to improve masticatory function, aesthetics, damage prevention, and restoration of masticatory function. It is critical to know when performing the orthodontic treatment in order that we are aware of any side effects that may occur if the treatment is performed by an unprofessional. The aims of study : To compare the level of knowledge and motivation for orthodontic treatment between dental clinic (Place of the certified dentist) and dental technicians (Place of an uncertified dentist). The methods of study : This study is analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach and a cross-sectional study design. The population was 50 patients from dental clinics and dental technicians in NTB area. The sample size was calculated using the Slovin technique to determine sampling. According to Sugiyono, the calculation is rounded to achieve conformity, so the researcher collected samples from dental clinics and dental technicians, totaling 37 respondents. Afterward, data processing was done by T-test Results : The results revealed that the p-value was 0.000 (p>0.005). Most of them with good knowledge level were 33 respondents (89.2%) and motivation with good knowledge was 35 respondents (94.6%) at the dental clinic. Furthermore, the poor category has 16 respondents (43.2 %), while the medium category has 22 respondents (59.5 %) for dental technicians. Conclusion : When the level of knowledge and motivation for orthodontic treatment was compared between dental clinics and dental technicians, it was discovered that respondents who visited the dentist had greater knowledge and motivation than those who visited the dental technician.
