ABSTRACT Background :The prevalence of stunting in DIY in 2018 was 10.69 in 2019. WHO reports that 5-25% of preschool age children suffer from developmental disorders. Stunting children are children who experience growth failure and have an impact on cognitive development and other intelligences. Destination : Knowing the relationship between stunting and emotional behavior disorders in preschool children in the work area of the Patuk 1 Gunung Kidul Public Health Center. Methods: This research is a correlation study with a retrospective cohort design. The sampling technique uses simple random sampling, the independent variable is used for stunting status and the independent variable is for the emotional development of children. The analytical test used univariate and bivariate analysis, univariate analysis to determine the characteristics of respondents and bivariate to determine whether there is a relationship between the incidence of stunting and children’s emotional development.The number of respondents in this study amounted to 128 mothers who have children aged 36-59 months in the case group and control group. Result: There is a relationship between the incidence of stunting and emotional behavior disorders in preschool children (p value: 0.001 Conclusion: There is a relationship between the incidence of stunting and emotional behavior disorders in preschool children aged 36-59 months. stunting preschool children have almost four times greater risk of experiencing emotional behavior disorders than children who are not stunted Keywords :stunting, emotional development, prescholl
