ABSTRACT
Background: According to WHO (World Health Organization), 490,000 women in the world are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year and 80% are in developing countries. The most effective prevention of cervical cancer is through Visual Inspection of Acetic Acid (VIA). the utilization rate of the cancer early detection program for the coverage rate of VIA visits at the Pituruh Health Center is still low. One of the things that causes the low number of women of childbearing age doing early detection of cervical cancer using VIA among others, is the knowledge and motivation of women childbearing age.
Objective: To determine the relationship between women childbearing age knowledge level and motivation for VIA examination
Methods: This type of research is analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all women of childbearing age aged 20-49 years in the working area of the Pituruh Health Center with a sample of 98 people through purposive sampling technique. Collecting data using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Hypothesis testing using chi squaretest.
Results: The level of knowledge of women of childbearing age about early detection of cervical cancer using the VIA method at the Pituruh Health Center. Most of them are good or sufficient consisting of good 44.9% and 42.9% enough. Motivation of women of childbearing age to carry out VIA examinations) Most of the patients at the Pituruh Health Center were high. Testing the hypothesis obtained that there was a relationship between the level of knowledge of women of childbearing age about early detection of cervical cancer using the IVA method with the motivation for the VIA examination at the Pituruh Health Center, Purworejo Regency with a low strength relationship with p = 0.001.
Conclusion: there is a relationship between women childbearing age knowledge level and motivation for VIA examination at Pituruh Health Center, Purworejo Regency
